"...A project goal is a specified desired result..."

The process of goal identification involves meeting with you and your team to identify and discuss the overall objectives of the project. The process is based around five high level steps.

Participation analysis

We undertake an overview of persons, groups and organisations connected to a project and their interests, motives, attitudes and implications for project planning.

Problems analysis

We work through the major problems and group them into a problem-tree with the cause and effect of each probelm along with the identification of the core problem.

Objectives analysis

We restate the problems into realistically achievable goals by restating the problems into outcomes.

Alternatives analysis

We assess any alternatives according to resources, probability of achieving objectives, corporate/political feasibility, cost-benefit ratio, risks, time availability, sustainability, and others various factors.

Goal identification summary

We summarise the results along with any additional data gathering and analysis requirements highlighting the agreed goals and objectives.

At the conclusion of this process, we provide a project goal identification summary. The summary can then be used to construct / enhance business case requirements or become the launch pad from which project planning can commence.
