..."Transition Planning outlines the processes by which the project is handed over to an operational team or department for the ongoing maintenance of the product or service"...

Transition planning is a very important aspect of any project. It ensures that a successful project is transitioned across operations. The process is based on the following steps:

Resource Identification

Facilities, hardware & software

We help outline the required resources including such items as facilities, hardware and software needed to ensure support for the deliverable system or service. This can include safety and security requirements, special power needs, cabling, room construction, network or data communication requirements, platforms, compilers, operating systems, utilities, etc.

Documentation

We assist with identifying the required documentation needed to support the deliverable system.

Personnel

In addition to resources and documentation, we help to identify the personnel needed to accomplish the transition, maintenance, and support of the deliverable system, including the anticipated number of personnel, the types and levels of skills and expertise.

Training

We help estimate any training requirements necessary for users, operational staff, and support staff.

Transition Planning

Release Process

As part of the transition plan, we help document the release process for the deliverable system which may include reference to necessary standards that define an acceptable release as well as indicating how the standards will be applied.

System Migration

We assist in describing any system information that must be migrated into the deliverable product or service. We also help list any special issues with regard to data reconstruction or the migration of historical data.

Problem Resolution

The development of problem management assists with identifying, tracking, and resolving issues in relation to operational aspect of the product.

Transition Schedule

We also develop a detailed schedule for transition including a breakdown of roles and responsibilities. We work with you to develop the transition through the development, operation, maintenance, and support phases of the system product.
